Special focus: Digital Narratives

Title: Digital Narratives – how digital and social media are being used as part of narrative approaches to support learning, teaching and assessment practices
Together we will explore learning and the idea of digital narratives. We will consider how digital and social media are creating new formal and informal learning spaces and discuss how existing understandings of learning space are being disrupted by the digital and social media and other technologies we use every day. We will hear about the opportunities this presents for teaching and learning and we will reflect on our roles to encourage, support and challenge the use of media and, in particular, we will focus on ideas about narrative in learning.
For example, we expect to hear about how,
students are recording their experience of their course or being at university
the role of video as a tool for capturing projects
digital storytelling as an assessment task
Storify is being used to create social media narratives
Use of digital narrative from and in the field
The event will take place at Nottingham Trent University on the 8th January 2016. NTU and MELSIG are now developing the programme for the day and, as usual, welcome proposals that you think will fit this theme and be of interest to the sector.
